 This Sheep Those Sheep (bah bah bah) were born in snowy Ithaca, NY while all four members were in the final stages of their academic careers at Cornell University. Ben had been in two previous, short-lived bands, The Teapot Dome Orchestra and Fue. The Sheep began humbly as the moniker for his solo project, but quickly grew into the quartet you find grazing today. Ben has a BA in psychology. He grew up across the street from a statue of the virgin mary, mother of jesus, which was frequently vandalized, until they installed a camera. people would drive up and park on the sidewalk, pray for a few minutes and drive away. like a prayer drive-thru. He danced in his living room in front of the television while michael jackson's "thriller" video played on MTV. In high school he started listening to the velvet underground and the flaming lips and sonic youth and galaxie 500. Then yo la tengo, steve reich, david bowie, debussy, magnetic fields, neutral milk hotel, gamelan, jim o'rourke, godspeed you! black emperor... He likes birds and trees and frogs and monkeys and fruit juices and popsicles and music and mountains and sex. and one time, he had testicular torsion, which is when the artery to your testicle (if you're a man) gets all twisted up, and blood stops flowing, and they thought he'd have to lose it, and he had crazy surgery, but it survived somehow, and if he were religious he'd drive home and pray to the virgin mother. he draws & paints and has designed clothing for the fashionable Brooklyn Industries. he has numerous other projects as well, including yer sweet chimneys and you aren't my mother. Malav has a BA in government. He has spent much of his life in a futile attempt to escape the curse of his stunning good looks, or rather immersed in the works of marx and walter benjamin. with others, he runs the maverick, feminist bookstore Blue Stockings in manhattan. he like dirty three and rainer maria and tom waits and godspeed you! black emperor and loads more. Nate has a BA in english. He is not and has never been in a fraternity. he likes to listen to yo la tengo, matt suggs, m. ward, pavement, modest mouse, the shins, will oldham, grandaddy, smog, wilco, deerhoof, and more fun stuff. he also likes to read books and magazines. he is into home decor. also, nate is a total fratty. yup, a fratty fratty frat boy. he listens to the dave matthews band and phish, and... uh... guster? uh, do frat boys listen to guster? whatever. nate's in a frat, that's our running joke, and he friggin hates it. Thea has a BA in philosophy. She likes a lot of things including, but not limited to, sleeping, eating, museums, the south pacific, and snow. she doesn't really have any coordination, and has lots of bruises to show for it. she listens to stylish music like ugly casanova, radiohead, matt ward, the rapture, manu chao, broken social scene, buena vista social club, and the shins. she sucks, but sometimes likes to pretend that she could be cool if she wanted to. Nick has a BFA in photography. In 2003 he co-wrote a rock opera adaptation of samuel beckett's waiting for godot. nick likes driving to the beach while listening to fannypack and watching law and order for hours in a row. also those shows on Discovery and TLC where they have to build a car or a motorcycle in a week — he love that shit. nick doesn't like listing music he listens to (besides fannypack) but he assures you it's very eclectic and impressive. he listens to music you haven't even heard of, and that if you did, you wouldn't even like. he is skilled in the mystic art of the balisong, solves rubik's cubes for fun, and he was married in january 2005. this is malav. he is rarely photographed.
